Organizing the web stuff....

Tools, tools, tools! I am always amazed at how much potential there is for organization! I was aware of many of these applications before have not actively used them until now. I do think that it is all a bit overwhelming but know that in time I will figure out what works best for me. Twitter has me baffled and I am still not sure what I should be adding onto it! My user name is "bookfairy59" and I am now feeling like a stalker as I signed up to "follow" some people!
I was away for a good portion of the week in Colorado which gave me a lot of time to read the Will Richardson book on the flights but not as much time to really play with each of the applications. I was feverishly writing down ideas of how to use the applications in the classrooms and feel like I am only at the tip of the iceberg. I think for me, it will be easiest to use the applications if I am able to have them all accessible from one space on the web.
I have set up my RSS feeder through Google Reader which is convenient as I have an igoogle account already. I have put the blogs into categories such as; education, spirituality, and teacher tools. I really like the set up of this and find it easy to keep track of.
I am using the Delicious application and although I set it up for a previous class I don't always use it. I am trying to forget about the bookmarks/favorites and think only delicious! I have explored diigio a bit and like the idea that it has group functions and could be used in a classroom setting with sticky notes for teacher feedback and collaborative efforts. Annotating important parts and being able to track who is adding what also seems like great educational aspects of the application.
As for the library sites, I have set up shelfari again (as I think I had one of these sites previously but can't seem to figure out which one!) I think these are great applications to use with students to promote reading and motivate readers! This might be a project for my student library assistants!

  1. Nice post, Anita. I like the Shelfari format in your sidebar! I couldn't get to your delicious account via the link, you might want to double check the address. Well done!

  2. I enjoyed reading your blog. I agree with you about Twitter. I couldn't quite figure out the fascination with it.
