Exploration Week 6

Exploration:

YouTube http://youtube.com
I am always amazed at what can be found on youtube! I can get lost for hours watching music videos, Chris Angel magic videos, and crazy short videos that my son likes to show me! What a great invention just for fun! Before this week I hadn't explored YouTube much as an educational tool because it is blocked at school.
TeacherTube http://teachertube.com
I often think that it would be great to be able to use TeacherTube at school but again, it is blocked at the school I teach at. The first video I watched on it was "Paying attention" probably a year ago. I love that some of my online classes have integrated the TeacherTube videos into a "lecture" portion of the course.
Vimeo http://vimeo.com/ Vimeo is very easy to use and doesn't look busy at all so that there are no visual distractions. I didn't create video with this but did watch some pretty weird stuff under the "things I like" category.
ITunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/whatson/ I have used itunes for about 6 months and have enjoyed gifting music to friends and generally playing music. I can now see how it will come in handy for creating media.

PodcastAlley http://www.podcastalley.com/
I didn't get a chance to create a podcast but do love to listen to them on NPR if I have missed a story.
Mrs. Brewster’s Chemistry Class http://bhschemistry.wikispaces.com

VoiceThread http://voicethread.com I experimented with voicethread through Tracy's post on the discussion board. This was a great way to get all of us to work on it together, I really thought it would be very valuable at school. Kids love to survey the teachers, interview each other and generally hear themselves talk and would really enjoy this type of collaborative project.

Pandora http://pandora.com/ What a great tool and I learned something from a classmate that I want to check out - http://news.cnet.com/8301-10784_3-6097284-7.html

  1. I can't believe that your school blocks TeacherTube! ACK! Nice post, and I love your Animoto - it reminds me that someday summer will come again! Nice work.
